When you’re planning on a place to travel for your vacation, you might overlook Alaska. When you think of Alaska you may only think about cold weather, a cruise liner, and whale-watching. This is not all that Alaska offers for a vacation. Once you arrive in Alaska by car, private or commercial plane, or cruise liner there are many great things to do. Here are three great reasons you should plan to visit the wonderful state of Alaska on your next vacation.

Alaska’s wildlife is spectacular to view when you are on vacation. There are not many places in the world where you can see a wide variety of endangered species in their own environment. Tours are available which will take you deep into the wilderness and let you view polar bears, moose, foxes, and many more. You will not find a bigger variety of species in North America than when you visit Alaska.

If you are not into viewing wildlife but are more interested in outdoor activities, then there is an abundance of activities you can do on your stay. If you like hiking you can hike the Harding Ice Field, which is a glacier that’s 1/2 mile deep and bigger than the state of Rhode Island. Or, while visiting Alaska, you can also white water raft, take sea kayaks, fish, hunt, and even scuba dive.

Last of all if you’re into more of a historical aspect of Alaska, then there are plenty of opportunities in which to experience Alaska. Many tours are offered featuring native traditions and history such as totem poles, hand crafted pieces, blanket toss, and festivals all in one state.
