Travel & Leisure

If you do not have much outdoor experience, tours and guides allow you to see the real wilderness of Alaska during the day and the warmth of a bed at night.  For the experienced outdoors tourist rugged hiking of glaciers during the day is available along with traveling in a “bush” plane or traveling on a dog sled. With unlimited outdoor opportunities there is something for everyone in Alaska.

Alaska offers some of the most spectacular fishing in North America.  Fishing in Alaska includes fly-fishing, saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing, and ice fishing.  Alaska fishing can be as easy as pulling off the side of the road and casting your line into the water.  If you want to go fishing that’s deeper than just off the side of the banks, then you can rent a boat or float plane to go fishing.  With over 3,000 rivers and 3 million lakes Alaska fishing will never let you down.

Along with fishing, wildlife viewing is a big hit among tourists.  Wildlife viewing is a big hit since there is nowhere else in North American where you can see a polar bear, bald eagle, whale, wolf, moose, and many other endangered species.

Last of all, if a tourist is just looking for a relaxing day within the great state of Alaska then day cruises are available in several areas.  These day cruises tour popular destinations found at Glacier Bay, Prince William Sound, and Kenai Fjords.  On these day cruises, tourists are able to view wildlife such as bald eagles, polar bears, and wolves from a safe distance.
